Job description

Mantell Associates is partnered with a global leader in the development and manufacure of assays and instruments for the measurement of molecules in biological samples. They are searching for Technical Application Specialists to join their growing team across the US.


Technical Application Specialist - Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing technical advice and offering scientific information relevant to customer's application area(s) of interest

  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify brand new customers and find new applications for existing customers to maximize utilization of consumables in their research

  • Research and create application-specific customer focused campaigns using marketing tools such as scientific posters and publications to identify new business opportunities

  • Provide technical guidance regarding ongoing projects to position appropriate products to existing and prospective customers

  • Provide technical advice for use of software for analyzing ECL data

  • Collaborate on the developing and authoring application-based resource materials (slides, application notes, etc.) for internal and external customers

  • Triage and escalate issues requiring additional support to sales team and Field Applications Scientists

  • Record and manage customer interactions in CRM. Regularly review to ensure data is accurate and current

Technical Application Specialist - Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in the Life Sciences or related field

  • Minimum 2 years hands-on laboratory experience, familiarity with immunoassay techniques required

  • Technical support experience within the Life Science industry is required

  • Direct customer facing sales support experience is preferred

  • Strong scientific and analytical background

  • Well versed in common laboratory techniques and procedures such as ELISA or other sandwich immunoassays, Western Blot, and simple protein purification methodologies

  • Ability to explain concepts behind the techniques and procedures effectively

  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills are required

  • Able to effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of laboratory data

  • A customer focus which demonstrates proactive, responsive services

  • Strong business acumen, negotiation and mediation skills, as well as a demonstrated attention to detail and a focus on achieving quality outcomes

  • Ability to build/foster relationships

  • A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with customers

  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; proficiency in SFDC desired

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities

  • Ability to travel extensively that can include overnight stays and working work outside normal business hours as needed
