Job description

Mantell Associates is partnered with a Biotech who is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager for their Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, specifically focusing on their Clinical Trials segment.

This role will be instrumental in driving financial insights, strategic planning, and decision-making processes within the organisation's rapidly evolving Clinical Trials business. The Senior FP&A Manager will work closely with senior leadership to support and guide financial performance, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis activities.


Senior FP&A Manager - Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning & Analysis:

    • Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term planning processes for the Clinical Trials business unit

    • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and business planning

    • Provide comprehensive financial insights and recommendations to drive business decisions and improve financial performance

  2. Business Partnering:

    • Collaborate with Clinical Trials leadership to understand business needs and provide financial guidance

    • Act as a strategic advisor to senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations

    • Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Sales, Marketing, and R&D to drive financial performance and achieve business objectives

  3. Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Prepare and present financial reports, including variance analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs)

    • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results and provide detailed explanations of variances

    • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with corporate guidelines and accounting standards

  4. Strategic Initiatives:

    • Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, including financial due diligence and integration planning

    • Lead special projects and initiatives to drive business growth, efficiency, and profitability

    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the FP&A function

  5. Team Leadership:

    • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of FP&A professionals

    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture

    • Ensure continuous professional development and training for team members


Senior FP&A Manager - Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred

  • Experience:

    • 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, with a focus on clinical trials or life sciences

    • Demonstrated experience in financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning

    • Proven track record of partnering with senior leadership and influencing business decisions

  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely

    • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, SAP, Hyperion, or similar systems

    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
