​Mantell Associates is currently representing a management consulting firm focusing on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in an incredibly exciting period of growth for the business, looking for a Principal in the healthcare practice to support their capabilities and continue their growth.

Principal Responsibilities:

Client and Business Development

  • Active membership on senior management team, contributing to business development, engagement management, and overall company development activities

  • Play a key role in building the company by developing and leading broad based initiatives

  • Actively building and managing a substantial network of client contacts

  • Ability to find and close new and follow-on business opportunities

  • Commitment to building and managing client relationships with awareness of industry trends to identify new business opportunities

  • Ability to gauge and exceed clients’ expectations

  • Represent Herspiegel Consulting in industry/marketing events (e.g. conferences, trade shows etc.)

People and Relationship Management

  • Lead by example, acting with highest level of integrity and motivating people toward preserving the client’s interest while achieving business goals

  • Facilitate a work climate in which team members are encouraged to learn and to continue to develop their skills

  • Give team members fair and useful (formal and informal) feedback

  • Being able to work effectively within different organizational structures and to interact with people at all levels of the firm and client

  • Provide mentorship and coaching to both, junior and senior consulting staff

Delivery Capabilities and Industry Know How

  • Externally (and internally) recognized as a subject matter expert able to transform industry trends and client needs into business opportunities

  • Consistently demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, particularly with brand strategy

  • Ability to lead and to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously, including allocation of internal resources to ensure that the client projects are delivered on time and within budget

  • Provide leadership and motivating teams to deliver beyond client expectations resulting in follow-on opportunities

  • Engage the team’s skills and ideas to ensure the development of creative solutions to complex problems

Principal Requirements:

  • Broad understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with strong knowledge of marketing, product promotion and placement, new product development, market research and sales

  • Strong understanding of management consulting operations, processes, engagement planning and training

  • Development of commercial strategy, launch plans, line extensions and lifecycle management

  • Product positioning and segmentation

  • Prior management consulting experience, with a minimum of 2 years leading project teams at the Manager/ Senior Manager/ Project Manager level and 6+ years of experience within management consulting (preferably at a top-tier firm)

  • Proven track record of business development/engagement selling acumen with both existing and new clients

  • Ability to consistently demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, particularly within brand strategy

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal form and strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint

  • Strong work ethic, organization and planning skills, detail orientation and personal initiative

  • MBA from a top 20 program, with an advanced life science degree preferred
