Job description

Mantell Associates has partnered with a cutting-edge CDMO to aid their search for a Head of Rx Portfolio Coordination. This role will take a functional responsibility for coordinating the Rx Product Portfolio across the commercial businesses to strengthen and leverage both the current portfolio and future pipeline. Aligning with the Rx Country teams across the countries to achieve their objectives and report to the Head of Commercial.

Head of Rx Portfolio Coordination - Responsibilities:

  • To lead and enhance the Rx product ideation process across the group to increase the value of the future pipeline

  • Ensuring the needs of markets are met and that robust strategic approaches are in place to identify future opportunities

  • Product potential is maximised across all businesses and a consolidated forecast enables focus and clear direction to the broader business and other functions

  • Ensure transparency to all stakeholders of the pipeline: Oversee setup & governance of a group portfolio system

  • Consistent forecasting methodologies - Ownership of the quarterly full pipeline review to get the 100% picture of the organisation

  • Strengthen the growth through building a competitive portfolio & pipeline across the therapeutic areas where they are focused. It will replicate what is working across all markets and evaluate new therapeutic areas with markets and other functions ensuring we scale

  • Increase gross margin of the portfolio by reducing complexity in conjunction with operations and the markets

  • Understanding where cost and complexity is created and then to define and implement and track, the measures to address

  • To coordinate and scale across the countries a process that delivers a pipeline underpinning our growth aspiration, with each market taking ownership for the selection of its future products

  • Ensuring effective i) product/project ideation ii) assessment & evaluation of product/project candidates and new businesses & opportunities iii) project selection & prioritisation leading to strategically & financially aligned nominations of new product development projects in pipeline

  • Maximising the commercial potential and to ensure strategic alignment of the portfolio to maximise profit and prioritisation across the Group

  • Chair the Group Executive Portfolio Committee to ensure alignment against the goals across all functions.

  • Proactive product life cycle management encompassing governance of product change control as well as line extensions & innovations supportive to key brands / products. Ownership of a group wide data base enabling transparency

  • Coordinating and leading a Therapeutic Franchise Portfolio Strategy that is aligned with markets and business strategy.

  • Existing portfolio complexity reduction and profitability increase by reduced COGS and/or price optimisation through designing the right shape/size of portfolio in alignment with Commercial and Operations

  • Evolve and build the organisation and capabilities of the country Portfolio teams in each of the business ensuring synergies and appropriate collaboration. Being a catalyst to enhance best in class portfolio management

Head of Rx Portfolio Coordination - Requirements:

  • The ability to listen, influence and shape change through direct and indirect reporting and across geographies, strong collaboration skills and influencing, the ability to influence and manage change in matrix structures

  • A proven track record in Portfolio management Rx, product development and launches, demonstrates strategic thinking with the ability to turn a strategy into an executable plan that delivers results

  • Demonstrates a strong commercial aptitude, can show examples where they have directly brought growth delivering results

  • Knowledge and experience of the pharmaceutical market across Europe, Eurasia and to some extent the global generic market. Understanding of the current and future product and customer environment and portfolio

  • Experience of working with In- and out-licensing / IP deals / clinical stage deals / Commercial stage deals

  • Strong experience with cross-national and cross-cultural environment is required- leading change through functional not direct reporting teams and influencing across all levels in the organisation- demonstrates the ability to listen

  • Setting aggressive goals, establishing relevant metrics and measuring performance through regular follow-up. Has demonstrated strong project management

  • Excellent people management and organisational change skills

  • Conflict resolution and prioritisation across different objectives and focus on each market.

  • A strong understanding of the retail Rx.. 10-12 years in various roles with a minimum of 3-5 years in similar function in international pharmaceutical companies

  • An externally focused mindset and experience in working in multicultural environments

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English- a strong communicator
