Job description

Mantell Associates is currently partnered with a specialised healthcare market research organisation, who are searching for a Business Development Director to join their growing team.

Business Development Director - Responsibilities:

  • A member of the Leadership Team who inputs into the Company Strategy and works with the Managing Director to implement the strategy and achieve business goals
  • Leads key strategic initiatives, as directed by the Managing Director
  • Actively prospect and leverage potential new business opportunities within specified customer account(s) and hit target for sales
  • Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key decision- makers within accounts and develop in-depth knowledge of the customer organization, and influencers in network
  • Identify and respond to customer needs to define potential opportunities and propose appropriate tailored solution in line with client needs
  • Work with Research teams to identify opportunities and prepare the leads for sales presentation, and engage with new clients
  • Handle follow-up related to the sale and drive completion of contractual documents
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with key target accounts to generate both incremental and repeatable annual business
  • Initiate and manage RFI and RFP process and negotiate terms
  • Assess and anticipate business risks due to environmental changes impacting our relationship with the account such as the competitive setting, account product portfolio, strategy
  • Contribute to client strategy and act as a role model for client leadership
  • Understand client priorities and help others to do so; tailors offerings to clients to suit these, introducing experts from across the business to ensure the client is offered the right services
  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with clients; go-to point for services
  • Intense focus on client satisfaction; work across the business to ensure this is delivered and swiftly put in place remedial measures in case of issues

  • Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutics, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong leadership experience in Sales/Business Development and Key Account Management within a Commercial function
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer orientation and expert advice into sales success and long-term customer relationships
  • Strong networking skills and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven track record of successfully establishing strategic partnerships
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously
  • Comfortable utilising technology as a key part of the sales process
