Mantell Associates is partnered with a leading global Biologics CDMO, who is seeking a strategic, high-impact Vice President of Business Development to drive commercial growth across Europe and beyond.

This executive role is perfect for a seasoned commercial leader with deep biologics expertise and a strong track record of cultivating strategic partnerships, driving revenue, and shaping commercial strategy in the CDMO or biopharmaceutical services space.

Vice President of Business Development – Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the European commercial strategy to advance biologics development and manufacturing services, from discovery through commercial supply
  • Lead business development efforts across key markets, identifying, qualifying, and closing complex client engagements with biotech and pharmaceutical partners
  • Coach, mentor, and scale a high-performance business development team to achieve ambitious growth targets and build long-term client relationships
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders – including Operations, Technical Services, Quality, Regulatory, and Finance – to ensure service offerings align with market demand and technical capabilities
  • Act as a senior commercial ambassador at industry events, conferences, scientific forums, and client advisory boards to elevate the company’s presence and reputation
  • Drive the development of compelling proposals, competitive pricing models, and tailored solutions that differentiate the CDMO’s biologics value proposition
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to continuously refine commercial strategies, go-to-market plans, and partnership frameworks

 

Vice President of Business Development – Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive business development and commercial leadership experience within a biologics CDMO or biopharmaceutical services environment
  • Demonstrated track record of building and leading successful business development teams and closing high-value agreements with biotech and pharma clients
  • Strong understanding of biologics platforms, including cell culture, viral vectors, mAbs, recombinant proteins, ADCs or related modalities
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive levels both internally and externally
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with experience developing regional sales strategies and operationalizing them into measurable outcomes
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging scientific and commercial stakeholders with clarity and impact
  • Based in Europe with ability to travel regionally and globally as required
