Mantell Associates is partnered with a leading international supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients, laboratory equipment, and analytical tools. They are seeking a seasoned Head of Sales & Business Development to define and execute global commercial strategy, cultivate key partnerships, and spearhead revenue growth across both pharma and lab-tech segments.

 

Head of Sales & Business Development – Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a unified go-to-market strategy for pharmaceutical APIs/excipients and lab-equipment portfolios
  • Lead a high-performance team of sales managers and business development professionals across EMEA and APAC
  • Identify and pursue new growth opportunities—distributorships, OEM partnerships, licensing, or acquisition targets
  • Build strong relationships with key accounts: pharma manufacturers, academic and CRO labs, QC/QA facilities
  • Drive commercial excellence: pricing strategy, tenders/RFPs, forecast accuracy, margin optimization
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Technical Service, Regulatory Affairs to support product launches, demos, training, and after-sales support
  • Own P&L responsibility and operational metrics—sales targets, pipeline health, conversion rates, and revenue growth
  • Monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs—adapting strategy accordingly
  • Represent the organisation externally at trade shows, industry forums, scientific conferences

 

Head of Sales & Business Development – Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 12 years’ experience in commercial, BD, or sales leadership—experience selling cross?sector in pharmaceutical and lab?tech highly preferred
  • Proven P&L and team leadership—successfully managing multi-regional commercial operations
  • Strong experience in OEM/distribution, licensing, or partnership-based growth strategies
  • Excellent stakeholder management—technical fluency combined with commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated negotiation and relationship-building skills with major pharma players, labs, and research institutes
  • Comfortable managing complex sales cycles, tenders, and long-term contracts
  • Strategic, entrepreneurial thinker with strong data-driven decision skills
  • Willing to travel internationally
