Mantell Associates is partnered with a pioneering Cell & Gene Therapy company, who is seeking a high-impact Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead its commercial strategy, accelerate market adoption, and drive sustainable growth from its Boston headquarters.

This executive role is ideal for a strategic, commercially astute leader with deep industry experience, a strong track record in life sciences commercialisation, and a passion for transformative therapies.

 

Chief Commercial Officer – Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy that supports the company’s growth ambitions across cell and gene therapy markets
  • Lead all commercial functions – including Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Business Development, and Customer Success – to deliver results that exceed revenue, adoption, and profitability goals
  • Own the go-to-market plan for emerging cell and gene therapy products, establishing clear value propositions, pricing strategies, and launch playbooks
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with pharmaceutical/biotech partners, payers, healthcare systems, and key opinion leaders in the cellular and genetic medicine ecosystem
  • Champion customer-centric commercial models that balance scientific rigor with market needs and real-world evidence to drive uptake and commercial success
  • Provide strategic market insights, competitive analysis, and forecasting to inform leadership decisions, investment planning, and resource allocation
  • Coach, mentor, and grow high-performing commercial teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
  • Represent the company at scientific, clinical, and industry events, enhancing brand visibility and thought leadership in the advanced therapy landscape

 

Chief Commercial Officer – Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience in biopharmaceuticals, biotech, or cell & gene therapy ecosystems
  • Proven track record as a commercial leader (CCO, VP Commercial, Head of Sales/Marketing) in organisations delivering complex biologics or advanced therapy products
  • Deep knowledge of the cell and gene therapy market – including regulatory pathways, reimbursement landscapes, and treatment adoption dynamics
  • Strong strategic leadership, influencing skills, and executive presence with the ability to engage cross-functionally and align global stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success driving growth through integrated commercial initiatives, strategic partnerships, and data-informed commercial decisions
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience presenting to boards, investors, and external partners
  • Based in the Boston area (or willing to relocate) with the ability to lead hybrid on-site and remote collaboration
