Mantell Associates is currently partnered with a CDMO focused on advancing cell and gene therapies for patients worldwide, seeking a dynamic Business Development Director to drive revenue growth and strategic client engagements from their US headquarters.

 

Business Development Director – Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development efforts to identify, pursue, and secure new CDMO partnerships and service agreements across cell and gene therapy markets
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans aligned with company growth objectives, targeting biotech, pharmaceutical, and research organisations
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with senior executives, decision makers, and key stakeholders in target accounts
  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams (scientific, operations, marketing, regulatory) to tailor value-driven proposals and solutions
  • Represent the organisation at industry conferences, scientific events, and client meetings to elevate brand presence and generate new opportunities
  • Analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to refine business development strategies and messaging
  • Deliver accurate pipeline forecasts, sales metrics, and performance reporting to senior leadership

 

Business Development Director – Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred
  • Proven track record (typically 8+ years) in business development or strategic sales within the biotech, CDMO, CRO, or life sciences services sector
  • Deep understanding of cell and gene therapy development, manufacturing processes, and client priorities
  • Strong consultative selling skills with a demonstrable ability to close complex, high-value agreements
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Based in California or willing to relocate
