Mantell Associates is partnered with a leading CDMOin their search for a new Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead and drive forward the organisation.

Chief Development Officer (CDO) - Responsibilities:

• Working with the Executive Committee to design and lead the strategy for Platform Development

• Driving alignment among the key stakeholders (Commercial, Operations, Platform development and Research) for scope definition and design of development activities, setting concrete targets, timelines and risk management process (for process, product and analytical development)

• Aligning goals of the team with the needs of clients and the manufacturing teams and driving projects to completion

• Implementing transparent technical and project management systems to monitor progress while providing ample opportunity for scientific critique

• Leading the development and implementation of improved product process and (overseeing the transfer to manufacturing - realising greater efficiency and leading to improved manufacturability

• Guide and counsel colleagues through technical problems they might encounter and contribute to their resolution

• Develop cross functional relationships to deliver multidisciplinary projects

• Ownership of the Platform Development departmental budget

• Technical SME for client CDMO programs and client / regulatory agency inspections

• Responsibility for health and safety within the Development laboratories

• Suggest improvements to site procedures and/or systems to improve team and department efficiency and compliance

Chief Development Officer (CDO) - Requirements:

• Proven leader within the life science industry with previous full responsibility for development of platform processes, new services and technology transfer into cGMP manufacturing teams

• A track record of leading complex product development projects from research to launch within highly matrixed cross-functional project teams

• A strong product development and/or CDMO service background

• Significant experience designing and leading complex projects and programmes

• Able to lead and contribute to technical team and departmental discussions

• Communication skills to effectively manage and engage direct reports ensuring the performance is in line with their job role

• Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills and the ability to manage successfully

• Self-organisation and ability to respond to changing priorities quickly with excellent time management skills

• A team player with the ability to guide and mentor

• Ability to work under pressure with solid organisational and problem-solving skills
