Mantell Associates is partnered with a small to midsize CRO who are seeking to add a Business Development Director in Europe. This person will enjoy a mixture of new business development, key account management and commercial strategy. This organisation offer development and Drug Discovery services. The new incumbent will play a leading role in driving the organisation's European expansion.

Business Development Director - Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive revenue growth for drug discovery services

  • Identify target markets, key clients, and emerging trends to maximize business opportunities

  • Analyse market dynamics and competitor activities to position the CRO effectively

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic institutions

  • Understand clients' drug discovery needs and propose tailored solutions to meet their requirements

  • Ensure excellent customer satisfaction by addressing client concerns and resolving issues promptly

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive lead generation, networking, and market research

  • Qualify and prioritize potential clients based on their fit with the CRO's capabilities and strategic objectives

  • Develop compelling proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations to secure new business contracts

Business Development Director - Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree (Ph.D., MBA) preferred

  • Proven track record of success in business development or sales within the pharmaceutical or CRO industry, specifically selling drug discovery services

  • Strong knowledge of the drug discovery process, including target identification, hit-to-lead, lead optimization, and preclinical development

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence key stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships and generate new business opportunities

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills

  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Fluent French language
